a weird, totally random story

yesterday i was at the vet with my cat, zelda. (cuz truly....i can single handed support every vet in this town with a very lavish lifestyle). i went to sign the bill, and i glanced at the pen. something quickly caught my eye. then i looked at it more closely. it was one of those pens that companies send you for free, in hopes that youll order a bunch more to give out. anyway...i said to the lady behind the desk, "this is my dad!" she looked at me not really understanding what i was talking about. "this pen! my dads name and old address and phone number on it!"
she replied, "oh, maybe you left it here." i told her i had never seen that pen before. my dad has been at that vet once, and he sure didnt bring that pen with him. she told me that it showed up just the other day, but she liked it cuz it was a nice and big pen. i was still amazed that his pen showed up. it must have been circulating for years. (cue twilight zone music)

seriously....doncha think thats bizarre!? people borrow pens, and accidentally leave them places all the time. who knows where this pen has been. i know. nothing too earth shattering here. but still..it is very weird! and it just shows us another example of how small the world is, and how were all connected.

and i told her that even tho she really liked the pen...that i was taking it!

why bees die

"i think bees die because they get pollen from the flowers, and then some of the pollen turns brown inside of their stomach. and when they sting someone, not all of the pollen comes out. then some of the brown pollen goes into their wings, and it makes them die."

a nice event for a good cause!

when i was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer just over 4 years ago, so many people in my community came forward to help and offer support to me and my family. two of the very first people were elaine greenberg and carolyn benivegna. truly two amazing women. elaine likes my blog and wanted me to post some information, so please read what she has to say below:
__________

All of us have been touched by cancer, whether it be a family member, friend, or ourselves.   The journey of cancer is a long, hard road both physically and emotionally. By supporting this concert, through Living For Music, you can help make that journey an easier one. This year the concert is in memory of Carolyn  Benivegna, a woman who was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Living For Music is a not-for-profit organization that was created specifically  to provide help for every man, woman and child affected by cancer. The organization uses music to add joy and laughter to those in need of support during and after their jouney through the cancer healing process.
